GAA Pitch Finder is a free map and open dataset for GAA pitches. This page explains which site features use information from your browser and when your browser connects to other services.
Analytics
Google Analytics is optional and does not load unless you accept it. Ignoring or rejecting the analytics choice keeps it off. If you accept, Google Analytics is used to understand broad usage patterns such as page views, referral sources, device types, and popular pages. Google may then receive technical and usage information such as your IP address, browser and device details, page URL, and referrer, and may use cookies or similar identifiers under its own policies.
Your choice and the date it was made are stored only in your browser's local storage for up to six months. This preference is used to remember whether the optional analytics tag may load and is not sent to GAA Pitch Finder. When the preference expires, the site asks again.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the sliders button labelled "Analytics preferences" in the site navigation. Withdrawing disables further analytics activity on the page and removes Google Analytics cookies accessible to this site. See Google's Privacy Policy for details about Google's processing.
Location Features
The "Near me" feature asks your browser for permission to access your location. The returned coordinates are used in the open page to find nearby pitches and are not written to site storage or added to the GAA Pitch Finder dataset. Recentring the map also causes map tiles for the area being viewed to be requested from the map provider described below.
Maps And Directions
Leaflet runs in your browser to display maps. The map content comes from different providers depending on the page:
- The main pitch map loads raster map tiles from CARTO. Those tiles use map data from OpenStreetMap.
- Generated club pages load Standard map tiles directly from the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
- The Daily Pitch page offers an optional Google Maps iframe. It does not connect to Google until you select "Load Google map".
Loading map tiles or choosing to load an embedded map sends a request from your browser to the relevant provider. The request can include your IP address, browser details, referring site, and the map area or coordinates needed to return the map. Your analytics preference does not control these map requests. Embedded Google Maps is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.
Directions links open Google Maps only when you select them. The destination coordinates are included in the link and Google then handles your visit.
Contact
If you email GAA Pitch Finder, your email address and message are used to review, reply to, and follow up on your request. Email is handled by the email providers used by you and GAA Pitch Finder.
Donations
The donation page contains a link to PayPal. GAA Pitch Finder does not embed PayPal or receive your payment details. PayPal loads only after you select the donation link, and then handles information under the PayPal Privacy Statement.
Hosting
The site is hosted with GitHub Pages. When GitHub serves a page or file, it may receive standard network and request information needed to operate and secure the service. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

If you have a privacy question or want to ask about personal information connected with an email you sent, contact gaapitchfinder@gmail.com. Requests about information held by a third-party service should be directed to that provider.
